Eleanor Whitfield is the Editor-in-Chief of Finzomo. She is responsible for the standard every list is held to, from how a category is scoped to how a claim is sourced, and she has the final say on whether a piece is ready to publish. Nothing carries the Finzomo name until it clears her desk.

She spent more than two decades in business journalism and research publishing before Finzomo, first as a reporter covering enterprise technology and later as an editor building and running review desks. Along the way she learned the difference between a review that reads well and one that a buyer can actually trust, and she built the editorial systems that produce the second kind at scale. She has overseen coverage of hundreds of software categories and has spent years arguing, in newsroom terms, that independence is not a slogan but a set of daily habits.

At Finzomo those habits are written down. Eleanor owns the editorial process: the field research that grounds each list, the hands-on testing that scores it, the separation between commercial conversations and editorial judgment, and the fact-check that has to pass before anything goes live. She is unusually strict about disclosure and about dates, because she believes a reader deserves to know exactly how old a recommendation is and exactly how it was reached. When Finzomo gets something wrong, she is the one who insists the record is corrected in public.

Eleanor holds a degree in journalism and has led editorial teams recognized for their standards work. She writes rarely now, mostly methodology and the occasional feature, but she reads everything.
